'Painter, teacher, printmaker. I paint mainly with oil paints on canvas, I have taught in schools, universities and non-governmental organizations. Printing in its different forms has always played a part in what I do. I have made prints at Caversham Press for as long as it has existed. Textiles and flowers are a source of inspiration and it has been exciting to combine these ideas, letting them be part of a new vision.' Bronwen Findlay 2014

Born in Pietermaritzburg, Bronwen Findlay studied fine art at Natal Technikon in Durban and the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg. A painter and printmaker, Bronwen also collaborates with architects to decorate public spaces, murals and mosaic works. She has been extensively involved with informal art programmes, and has run a number of workshops in rural areas.

Since 1973, Bronwen has had numerous solo and group exhibitions. She was the Artist-in-Residence at the Grahamstown Festival in 2000 and one year later, curated “Threads/Painting, Printing and Stitching”, a collaborative exhibition with artists Faiza Galdhari and Diana Mabunda, in Johannesburg.

Bronwen’s work is characterised by intense colour, bold paint and elevating the ordinary.

Bronwen has been a close friend of the family for over 38 years and with her history of fabric painting just had to be part of our very first Artists range for Caversham Textiles.
